How a Pipe is made

 : The hole is drilled.  A spigot on the lathe is used to hold the billet of wood so the end can be turned round to fit in hte lathe chuck.

 : Heterocycla, a bamboo that can't be used to make flutes or fifes.  However, by putting one hole in a section, you can make a very nice "Owl Hooter"  that is very good training for children learning to play the fife.  They soon learn the correct embouchure so that when the are given a fife they can play it immediately.  These can be had for a few dollars plus postage. [$3 + ]

These pipes were made a couple of years ago from Rimu and Matai, two of the finest woods that NZ has to offer. They can be ordered from me. Delivery will be on the day I receive the payment of $US50 for each pipe ordered. This includes postage. Pitch can be nominated. A, Aflat, G, E, as well as C are available in this range.
