Because I turn wood to make my pipes, I belong to a woodturning guild. You can learn a lot about wood here. I have included some fotos of items that were made for the monthly competition. The aim of this project was to produce and objects with some decoration.
These items were finished by the newer members of the guild and were therefore "Junior Craftsmen". The quality of the work is excellent.
The next grade of work is from more experienced members who fit into the "Craftsmen" category. A very interesting reddish colouring on the left-hand piece of work. Also a great deal of drawing with a hot tipped piece of iron called a "Pyrograph". This work is called "Pyrography"
This is the work produced by the senior craftsmen. The green piece had a drawing inside!!!!. The copper coloured piece won a prize.
This work has been produced by the master craftsmen of three guild. there is clearly a degree of expert workmanship gone into these pieces.
These two items won prizes in the master craftsmen category. The inlay on the right hand piece is exquisite. The gold work on the dark vase is very good too.
Cheers Chris the "Master Pipemaker"
